Our Story

Since the heartfelt discussions at the 2020 Family Medicine Summit, the Alberta College of Family Physicians (ACFP) has been hard at work building a campaign that is rooted in our organizational pillars with a primary focus on the unique, trusted relationship between family physician and patient.

We knew we needed to create a different narrative, one that lets patients tell the stories and describe the unique value their family physician plays in their lives. We needed to give family physicians a chance to describe their experiences, their joys, and struggles in their daily practices.

So much has happened since we met in March, so many more reasons have driven our work, our commitment, and our creativity to bring to you and to Albertans, the Heart of Family Medicine.

Alberta Family Doctors are #HereforYou.

Help us spread the word and share our video, a podcast, or your story and #StandwithABFamilyDocs!

YOU are the heart of family medicine.

Inspiring A Shared Vision

Celebrating family physicians is not an exclusive effort to the Alberta College of Family Physicians, it is happening all across Canada!

We are inspired by the work of our sister chapters—the British Columbia College of Family Physicians, Saskatchewan College of Family Physicians, Ontario College of Family Physicians, Nova Scotia Chapter of Family Physicians, and by the work of Doctors Nova Scotia’s Your Doctors.

The stories and examples of advocacy we collectively share truly speak for themselves. We are grateful for our neighbours and stand with them, arms linked.
